2/17/2010 Historic Trust Seeks Barns
The Washington Trust for Historic Preservation seeks nominations to its 2010 Most Endangered Historic Properties list. Nomination forms are at the Trust's Web site, http://www.wa-trust.org/. Nominations are due Monday, March 15, and the list will be announced in May. (Excerpt from the Sequim Gazette article)
11/26/2009 Barns and History
"Barns and Farms" will be one of the lecctures presented during the Olympic Peninsula History Class, winter quarter, Peninsula College. Check out the MUSEUM LECTURE SERIES on the college website for dates and times.
5/30/2009 Barn Art at the MAC
The Museum and Arts Center (MAC)
is holding a special exhibit of Barn Art during the month of June, 2009 at 175 West Cedar Street, Sequim. All art featured will be the work of local artists, with a focus on local barns. If you appreciate old barns you must stop by and see this collection.
4/21/2009 Call for Barn Art
The Museum & Arts Center is now accepting entries for their special exhibit of Barn Art, which will be on display throughout June 2009 at the Exhibit Building. Check their website for more information. (And yes, I will be there.)
2/23/2009 Expanded Friends List
I have expanded the Friends and Sponsors list to include all the wonderful barn lovers who have written to me over the years.
2/6/2009 New Server
We have moved to a new server. There may be a few glitches with the site over the next week or so, but overall things should be running smoother now. If you wrote to me within the last month, please write again as the email is now working properly.
8/14/2008 Agnew Barn Coming Down
The barn at Barr and Franson is being demolished. I was notified of this just in time to get some final pictures of the destruction in progress.
4/10/2008 Visit to May Barn
I have had a chance to visit the May Barn on Old Olympic, and take lots of new pictures.
1/25/2008 Mantle Barn is Gone
After two months of piecemeal demolition, the barn at Mantle's Corner is finally down. Barn wood is available to anyone who wants to carry it off.
11/12/2007 Mantle Barn to Come Down
I have received notice that Mantle's Corner, the barn at Henery's Nursery, will be torn down.
9/27/2007 3rd Street Barn is Gone
The barn on 3rd Street by Dominion Terrace has been torn down.
7/10/2007 Barns in Studio Tour
Sequim Arts is presenting an Studio Tour in conjunction with this year's Lavender Festival. I will be participating, with my Dungeness Barns. Stop by to see my work, and talk about your favorite barns. Tour dates are July 20 thru 22.
5/6/2007 Priest Barn Torn Down
The historic Priest Barn in Sequim is being torn down. The process started in January with weather taking out most of the south roof of the building.
9/27/2006 Visit to Cays Barn
I have had a chance to visit the Arthur Cays Barn north of Woodcock, and take lots of new pictures.
9/26/2006 Barns in the Gazette
The Sequim Gazette has published a feature article about my barns, titled "Beauty and History Under the Rafters."
9/25/2006 Stares' Barn is Gone
The Stares' Barn near Sunland has been torn down.
8/18/2006 Jones Barn Town Down
The Jones Barn by Sequim Bay is being torn down for a housing development.
6/6/2005 Sequim Barn Demolished
This Sequim barn on 5th street is being torn down today. It was one of the last few remaining barns within the downtown area.
11/27/2004 New Barns Site Launched
This web site is launched. Photographs and paintings of local barns will be featured, along with historic notes about each structure.
5/15/2004 Barns at the MAC
The painting series Barns of the Dungeness Valley has its first showing this month at the Museum and Arts Center.
