Barn # 178 Rollin Shaw Barn
Sequim

West side of 7th, south of Washington

Rollin Shaw raised his family on this old stump farm in the 1920s, a time when the town of Sequim ended at the Fifth Avenue grain elevator. He cleared the land himself, built his own home and barn, and ran a small dairy herd there. He donated several acres of his original homesite to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Top photo is the barn seen looking east from 9th. It is now owned by Rollin's son, 2010 Irrigation Festival Grand Pioneer Dick Shaw and his wife Evelyn. They continue to live on what is left of the family farm and lives in his grandfather’s home. They have 12 beef cows, raise hay, garden and have fruit trees. Evelyn has a green thumb and raises prize dahlias.
