Barn # 220 Robb Barn
Sequim

GONE! Was on the west side of Priest Road at Washington

The original barn and house was built by a man named McDougal. Caroline (Lowry) and Alfred W. Robb emigrated from Ireland to Sequim in 1909, and purchased this land in the early 1920's. They built a larger home in about 1924-25, and some of the kitchen section of the McDougal house was remodeled and became part of the new house.

The original McDougal Barn was remodeled and enlarged in about 1941. Shortly after that Alfred and Caroline retired and sold the farm to their oldest son, Alfie. He and his wife Ramona farmed the 120-acre parcel as a dairy ("Almona Dairy Farm"). It was "one of the top dairy show places, wi th its shining white buildings and plank fences, its gleaming silo and hard-surfaced drive between weli-kept hedges." In 1971 Alfie sold it to Alva Jennings. The next year Jennings began hydroppnic farming at this location (see article, below).

In 2002 the PCC tried to save the farm (read more here), but ultimately had to give up in 2003. A WalMart now stands on the property.

The two-story farmhouse from the original 100-acre Robb farm was purchased and moved across Priest Road where it is slowly being restored.
