In 1947 the farm was rented by Ferd and Betty Schnuriger, where they had a dairy herd of 25 cows. They were chosen as the Peninsula Dairy Family of the Year in 1960. and in 1974 and 1975 Ferd's Holstein cows were the top milk-producing herd in the entire county.
