When Herman Zweekhorst bought this land in 1908, the original farm size was 147 acres. The barn as we see it now was built about 1945, around the same time that he sold off the cows and retired at 70. In 1959 at the age of 84, he was finally forced to sell the last six acres due to ill health. He loved his land and was heartbroken to have to leave it: he passed away later a few weeks later.
It has been through many owners since then. Recently painted red, the large barn has been converted to appartments. A recent owner used the facilities for a boxing club.
