The Barn was built in 1909 by Guy Simdars, then owned by his son Fred. After Simdars lived here Walt Martin bought the property. In 1959 the Martins were going to lose the farm. Ethel Larkin bought it from Walt, with the help of a loan from Albert Haller.
Ethel had dairy cows, and owned the property until 1973 when it was purchased by her grandson and his wife. They raised beef. After they sold the beef cows they rented the farm to local farmers. Jerry Schmidt of Blue Mountain Dairy rented for many years. It is currently being tended to by Troy Smith who, with his dad and brother, owns Maple View Dairy on Port Williams Road. It is also the proposed site for the Balloon Festival.
